Undergraduate Admissions Information

(Prospective graduate students should visit http://metro.cua.edu/masters/admissions.cfm.)

Anyone over the age of twenty-one years who graduated from an accredited high school, completed the General Educational Development Test (GED) successfully, or who has successfully completed some work in an accredited institution of higher learning may apply for admission to CUA's Metropolitan School of Professional Studies (MSPS). Students may be admitted into the baccalaureate (bachelor's) degree program or may enroll in classes as special non-degree students.

Students who otherwise possess the academic and technical qualifications to be admitted as a student into MSPS but who lack previous successful experience, or whose documentation is incomplete, may receive provisional admittance until they successfully complete twelve credit hours of part-time study, or one semester of full-time study, at which time the student's progress will be reviewed and, if judged satisfactory, the student's admittance may be changed to regular admittance. At that point, all pertinent documentation must be on file.

Application to the undergraduate program includes the following:

1. Application with non-refundable fees:

Online Application - the recommended method for applying for the bachelor's degree and credit-bearing certificate programs. Allows you to complete and submit your application electronically.

"Hard Copy" Application (Adobe/PDF) - for those not comfortable using an online application, this one may be printed out and faxed or mailed. It is appropriate for those interested in the bachelor's degree and credit-bearing certificate programs.

NON-CREDIT Application/Registration Form:
- this combined application and registration form is appropriate for those interested in completing certain courses/programs on a non-credit basis. Eligible programs include SHRM offerings, the Certificate in Human Resource Management, some Certificate in Business Management courses, and the Summer Institutes.

2. Official transcripts from high school or the GED. You may use our Transcript Request Form (Adobe/PDF). Just complete it and send it to the high school you attended.

3. Official transcripts of previous colleges attended. You may use our Transcript Request Form (Adobe/PDF). Just complete it and send it to the college(s) you attended.

4. Current résumé of professional experience.

5. Brief description of educational and career goals. This requirement is addressed in the application that you complete.

6. Letter of recommendation if requested.  (Note: Candidates applying to the HR3 or MSM3 Scholars Programs are required to submit one professional or academic letter of recommendation.

7. A pre-admission interview with a counselor. You may e-mail us for an appointment.

The submission of College Level Entrance Program (CLEP) scores, Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) scores, and a curriculum vitae are encouraged and may be helpful when discussing the student's educational history and objectives.

Satisfactory payment includes paying the total charges, being current with payments on the tuition payment plan, and/or completing all financial aid forms and waiting for accepted financial aid to be credited. Incomplete financial aid awards are considered to be late payments. Additional charges will be assessed to the student's account for checks returned by the bank for insufficient funds or stop payments. All charges due to the university must be paid in full by the payment due date published each semester. For more information on payment due dates, please visit http://treasurer.cua.edu/controller/sa/importantDates. Students who do not honor the financial arrangements agreed upon will not be permitted to register the following semester unless payment is made or new arrangements are negotiated.
