2) Senior Audits – Degree-Seeking Undergraduate Students

Degree-seeking undergraduates students nearing senior academic status (i.e., 90 credits) are required to complete a senior audit. The senior audit encompasses a full review of your academic record (e.g., courses completed, grades earned, etc.) and presents an opportunity to discuss the remaining courses in your degree program and preparation for graduation. This brief, 30-minute meeting is required. Please note that students may be prohibited from enrolling in future terms until the audit is completed.

4) CUA’s Center for Academic Success Announces Smarthinking  - Online Tutoring!

 

SMARTHINKING is a FREE online tutoring service that allows CUA students to address their tutoring needs in a 1-on-1 chat forum.  CUA students can access SMARTHINKING at any time, just by logging in with their Cardinal ID number. Tutors are available in a wide range of MSPS subject areas including Biology, Math, Accounting, Economics, Finance, and Statistics!

On November 4, 2010, Kim Bauhs, Assistant Director of Recruitment and Diversity for the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM), presented a dynamic and informative session on the types of career options available with the federal government and the key resource for finding these career opportunities: The USAJOBS web portal. USAJOBS (http://www.usajobs.opm.gov) is the federal government's official one-stop source for federal jobs and employment information and is now redesigned to be more effective in helping you seek out a host of employment opportunities.

Available exclusively for CUA students, Cardinal Mail service greatly expands your mail storage, gives you access to Google Docs, and even helps with your calendar, all in the popular Google Gmail interface.


You can forward Cardinal Mail to the e-mail account of your choice! Instructions follow:

Log in to Cardinal Mail

Go to “Settings” (Top right-hand corner)

Click “Forwarding to POP/IMAP”

Choose the “forward incoming mail to” box and type in your preferred email address

Choose whether you would like to save, delete, or archive the mail in your Cardinal Mail

Scroll to the bottom of the page and Save Changes

 

NOTE: The CUA e-mail account is the university's official means of communication with students, so it is very important that you access it on a regular basis. Essential communications such as balances due are sent to your CUA account – the university no longer provides paper bills (please see info on CardinalPay below). Federal Financial Aid for 2010-2011 Continuing Students:

For students continuing in the 2010-2011 academic year, the CUA Office of Financial Aid requires the 2010 -2011 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students can file the FAFSA for the upcoming year after it is available on January 1st.

33) Medical Insurance Information for CUA Students

Student Medical Insurance Requirement:

Effective Fall 2010, all CUA students (part-time and full-time) will automatically be billed for health insurance.  Therefore, students not wishing to purchase CUA student health insurance, should have completed the insurance waiver at https://studentcenter.uhcsr.com/cua by September 10, 2010.

Students who do not enroll or waive online will be default enrolled into the standard policy and are responsible for paying the student medical insurance charge on their student accounts. Notification reminders are sent to student's CUA email addresses.

34) Immunization Records Requirement for Students under the age of 26.

The District of Columbia Immunization Law (§ 38-502) and university policy requires all students that are enrolled in an academic institution and are under the age of 26 years of age (unless the student has a Medical Waiver or Religious Waiver approved by Student Health Services) to provide documentation of immunity to certain preventable diseases.  The Catholic University of America, in accordance with this law, requires that this documentation be submitted by all students under the age of 26 years. Diploma applications must be completed via Cardinal Station.

 

• Go to: https://cardinalstation.cua.edu

 

• Click the “Cardinal Students” link on the Enterprise Menu

 

• Click the “Graduation” link

 

• Click the “Apply for Graduation” link

You will be presented with your Program/Plan information as recorded in Cardinal Station. If the listing is not correct, please contact the MSPS Office (202-319-5256).

 

• Select your “Expected Graduation Term” from a drop down list containing the next three semesters. Please enter your name as you wish it to appear on the diploma.

 

• Please note: Once the deadline for diploma applications has passed for your expected graduation semester, the semester will no longer be available as a drop down option.
