1) Spring 2011 Registration Underway!

Spring 2011 registration is now underway. The schedule of classes is available at http://metro.cua.edu/courses/schedule.cfm#spring. Please be sure to schedule an advising appointment with your Metropolitan academic advisor. Please call 202-319-5256 to speak with your advisor.

3) Senior Audits – Degree-Seeking Undergraduate Students

Degree-seeking undergraduates students nearing senior academic status (i.e., 90 credits) are required to complete a senior audit. The senior audit encompasses a full review of your academic record (e.g., courses completed, grades earned, etc.) and presents an opportunity to discuss the remaining courses in your degree program and preparation for graduation. This brief, 30-minute meeting is required. To schedule your audit, please contact Graziella McCarron, MSPS Assistant Dean, via e-mail at pagliarulo-mccarron@cua.edu or phone -- (202) 319-6375 -- as soon as possible. Please note that students may be prohibited from enrolling in future terms until the audit is completed.

5) Pryzbyla Center, Dining Services, and CUA Bookstore Intersession Hours Operation

 

Pryzbyla Center Intersession Hours
The Pryzbyla Center will be open as follows:

  • Through Wednesday, Dec. 22: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Thursday, Dec. 23, to Sunday, Jan. 2: closed
  • Monday, Jan. 3, to Friday, Jan. 7: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, Jan. 8, to Sunday, Jan. 9: 8 a.m. to midnight

CUA Bookstore Intersession, Start-of-Spring Semester, and Spring 2011 Semester Hours of Operations

The CUA Bookstore will be closed to the public from Thursday, Dec. 23, through Sunday, Jan. 2. It will reopen for business on Monday, Jan. 3 (9 a.m. to 7 p.m.). For specific hours:

6) University Libraries Announce Intersession Hours
University Libraries will observe the following hours between the end of fall exams and the beginning of spring classes:

  • Monday, Dec. 20, and Tuesday, Dec. 21: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 22: 9 a.m. to noon
  • Thursday, Dec. 23, to Sunday, Jan 2: closed
  • Monday, Jan. 3, to Friday, Jan. 7: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, Jan 8., and Sunday, Jan. 9: closed

8) Flu Vaccine Available at CUA Health Services

9) Diploma Application Deadline for Fall 2010 and Spring 2011 Graduates

 

If you are planning to graduate at the conclusion of the Fall 2010 semester, you must submit the online diploma application by Monday, January 3, 2011. Instructions for completing the application can be found in E-Announcements item #26 below.

Is CUA Open or Closed?
The Office of Public Affairs wishes to remind faculty, staff, and students how to find out about the closing or delayed opening of Catholic University because of inclement weather. The quickest ways to find out are to check the CUA website at www.cua.edu or to call the university’s main number — 202-319-5000. The information is available through those two sources by 6 a.m. on days when weather conditions are extremely poor. In addition, CUA contacts all local TV outlets and major radio stations.

14) CUA Center for Academic Success Announcements

 

Purpose: Provide comprehensive learning assistance program to enhance learning potential and promote academic success

Services: Tutoring services (not available in Summer term). If you feel that you would benefit from one-on-one peer tutoring in Fall or Spring classes, please see your faculty member. Your instructor will be able to provide you with additional information on how best to establish tutoring support via the CUA Center for Academic Success. Academic skills assistance in areas such as: Note-taking, Time management, Memory improvement, Textbook reading, Test-taking.

Available exclusively for CUA students, Cardinal Mail service greatly expands your mail storage, gives you access to Google Docs, and even helps with your calendar, all in the popular Google Gmail interface.


You can forward Cardinal Mail to the e-mail account of your choice! Instructions follow:

Log in to Cardinal Mail

Go to “Settings” (Top right-hand corner)

Click “Forwarding to POP/IMAP”

Choose the “forward incoming mail to” box and type in your preferred email address

Choose whether you would like to save, delete, or archive the mail in your Cardinal Mail

Scroll to the bottom of the page and Save Changes

 

NOTE: The CUA e-mail account is the university's official means of communication with students, so it is very important that you access it on a regular basis. Essential communications such as balances due are sent to your CUA account – the university no longer provides paper bills (please see info on CardinalPay below).
